Acadia National Park: Affordable, Accessible, Awe-inspiring
Discover even more of the raw beauty of Acadia National Park and Maine’s rugged coastline aboard the Schoodic Ferry. The Schoodic Ferry connects passengers, their bicycles, and leashed pets to Mount Desert Island and the Schoodic Peninsula sections of Acadia National Park in an experience that may become the highlight of your vacation. Relax as you cruise between Bar Harbor and Winter Harbor, unconcerned about traffic or parking during your 45-50-minute ferry ride. Encounter a lobsterman hauling traps, greet a harbor porpoise surfing the waves, assist a working scientist in discovering more about the health of Frenchman Bay, or simply enjoy another new adventure in Acadia.
In Bar Harbor, the Schoodic Ferry docks at College of the Atlantic, directly across the street from access to Acadia National Park’s hiking trail and carriage road system. In addition, the Dorr Museum of Natural History, with its famous touch tank, is located on-campus and open to visitors Tuesdays – Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Diver Ed’s Underwater Dive-In Theatre leaves from College of the Atlantic as well, and Acadian Boat Tour’s Nature Cruises, Half-Day Fishing Trips, Puffin & Lighthouse Trips, and Somes Sound Cruises leave from Atlantic Oceanside, less than 1/4 mile away. Enjoy a short walk to the shops or take a FREE Island Explorer bus right to the village green! Truly, a visit to Bar Harbor offers something for everyone!

What to Bring
We highly recommend that all passengers bring:
• Jackets, sunglasses and hats even on the warmest of summer days.
Schoodic Ferry round trip passengers that intend upon staying at their port of visitation overnight should inform ticketing staff and/or point of origin Schoodic Ferry crew so that we can maintain accurate daily return passenger counts.
If changes or cancellations are needed, they must be made at least 24 hours (72 hours for groups and private charters) before departure to avoid a charge for the full fare of the reservation being applied at the time of the sailing. There will be no charge if the Schoodic Ferry is cancelled due to weather (or other) conditions as determined by the captain or, for cruise ship passengers, if your cruise ship schedule prohibits you from arriving at the Schoodic Ferry on time. For the latest Schoodic Ferry schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances, please follow us on Twitter @SchoodicFerry or check with our website www.schoodicferry.com. There is no charge to re-schedule a Schoodic Ferry return trip, if the rescheduling occurs at least 1 hour prior to your scheduled return trip departure.
