Enjoy a locally harvested, handmade lobster roll or crab roll while you picnic on the scenic College of the Atlantic campus, then enjoy all the fun the world renowned Tanglewood Marionettes have to offer as the perform "The Dragon King" at the 1932 Criterion Theatre in Bar Harbor. Catch the Schoodic Ferry for a stress-free ride back across the Bay once the show is over - all without having to worry about traffic or parking!

Want to see the Tanglewood Marionettes live, but don’t want to worry about parking in Bar Harbor or the long drive home from the show? Ride the Schoodic Ferry across Frenchman Bay to enjoy stress-free access to the world-famous Tanglewood Marionettes performance of the puppet show “The Dragon King” on Saturday, June 30th live at the 1932 Criterion Theatre.

Depart Winter Harbor aboard the 11:15 a.m. Schoodic Ferry, and enjoy scenic views of Frenchman Bay and Acadia National Park while crossing, and participate in our ongoing harbor porpoise, harbor seal and grey seal surveys with professional marine mammal observers. Enjoy lunch straight from the Winter Harbor Lobster Co-op!

Eat lunch on your journey across the Bay, or even enjoy lunch as a picnic on the scenic College of the Atlantic campus. Arrive at the College of the Atlantic dock where you will be picked up by the Schoodic Ferry van and transported to the 1932 Criterion Theatre to see master puppeteers, The Tanglewood Marionettes perform “The Dragon King”, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The Dragon King is a classic fable based on Chinese folklore, telling the tale of a wise Grandmother who journeys to the bottom of the sea to seek the Dragon King, who has forsaken the land above. With colorful sea creatures, an exciting adventure, and all the visual splendor that audiences have come to expect from a Tanglewood Marionettes production, The Dragon King is a heart-warming tale that will thrill young and old alike .

Finally, be picked up in front of the Criterion Theatre once the show is over, for a stress-free ride back to the Schoodic Ferry, and another chance to learn about marine mammals on the ride back across the Bay.
